Roman in a two-man combat
Roman Stoyloff (born Jan.27, 1963 in Berlin) is a German karate master (4th Dan). He is also known as Kalidas Roman Dickie Stoyloff, due to his yogic career at YogaVidya in Bad Meinberg, Germany, and due to his musical career in Berlin. During his musician’s career, he was involved in several punk rock bands, including “Soilent Grün” (which generated “Die Ärzte“ in 1982), “Soon Li”, “Tassie Devils”, “Jakarta TV” and in the Label Evil Killing Records. Additionally, during his scientific career, Roman authored several scientific books and publications. 












Career
In 1982 Roman started his graduate studies in chemistry at Technical University of Berlin, having continued as graduate studies in biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin in 1984. For his sportive career, Roman started karate training in Wadō-ryū style under supervision of Andreas Sparmann, having studied at Nihon University Nichidai (the prominent Wadō University of Japan) and the Wadō-ryū style referee Peter Wirbeleit. Each of these both supervisors and instructors obtained the golden mark of honor by the Karate Association of Berlin in 1998.  

In 1996, Roman obtained his doctoral degree in molecular virology. Since then, he published several scientific papers in the fields of molecular biology, clinical chemistry and biochemical diagnostics. During his successful doctoral studies and his subsequent post-doctoral career in infection biology at health regulatory institutes, Roman turned to martial arts and established himself as self-defense trainer in mixed martial arts and as anti-violence advisor in several base camps in Berlin, Vienna, Bad Meinberg (East Westphalia) and Mannheim. In Mannheim, he was directly supported by Heinz Frank of KC Budokan Mannheim. During this time, he was awarded a membership in the European and World Karate Federation and the International Olympic Committee. Furthermore, Roman’s sports scientific background knowledge was intensified by his basic education in sports management (BSO, Vienna) and by his further education for becoming yoga teacher (BYV, Bad Meinberg/East Westphalia-Lippe) and yoga therapist (BYAT, Bad Meinberg/East Westphalia-Lippe) as well as karate teacher (DKV, Frankfurt/Main), martial arts instructor (IAKSA, Heide/Holstein) and anti-violence representative (DKO, Hildesheim).

From 1996 until 2000, Roman participated in European and world championships in Berlin, Amsterdam and Zurich, namely in the karate discipline of free fight (Jiyu Kumite) and defined combat forms (Kata). As an individual athlete, he always obtained a grading within the first 5 winner ranks, which were even honored by the Governmental Administration of Internal Affairs and Sports of Berlin in 1998. Since 2008, Roman is certified trainer for High-performance Sports (level A). Furthermore, since 2012, he is trainee and student in becoming a Certified Coach by the Trainer Academy Cologne of the German Olympic Sports Confederation at the German Sport University Cologne. His mentor is Dr. Jürgen Fritzsche, the current Federal Instruction Coordinator of the German Karate Association, a long-term successful athlete.
